Alexis Wu

Alexis Wu is a freelance translator based in the U.S. Having grown up in northeastern China and then lived in the U.S. since 2008, Alexis holds a B.A. degree in linguistics and an M.A. in Chinese studies. He advocates preserving sociolinguistic registers in translated text and views translation through the lens of pragmatics. Alexis has given talks on literary translation at hobbyist forums, and is someone who enjoys dissecting the ways languages and multilingualism are presented in major SFF IPs—particularly those with constructed universes—that are aimed toward monolingual audiences.
